The Perfect Escape to Paradise

From the moment we exited the airport terminal at MLE, we were greeted by a Kagi representative who escorted us to the seaplane check-in for TMA. We were then taken to the Crown & Champa lounge and had coffee and cold drinks during our wait. The 15 minute seaplane ride took us to an island about another 5 minute boat ride away from Kagi. Upon arrival to Kagi, we were greeted by Maldivian drumming for the short walk to reception. 
The main pool is stunning, as is the architecture of the entire resort. The food was phenomenal. We eat vegan cuisine and owe a special thank you to the Chefs who went out of their way to make it feel like we had a personal chef during the entire trip. Curries, thai noodles, tofu scrambles on paleo bread, fresh fruit juices…the list could go on! Since this was a celebration of our anniversary, they even surprised us with a vegan cake on the last night of our stay! Poolside drinks were made from the freshest fruits. Mr. G said Septi’s massage was the best he had in a long time. And as if things couldn’t be any more perfect, after our couples massage treatment, dolphins swam right by our massage room!
We were never bored. The resort offers group yoga 3 times a week, a sunset dolphin cruise, and many non-motorized watersports all of which are included on the all-inclusive plan. We snorkeled nearly every day and saw so many colorful fish, nurse and black tip sharks, starfish, and on the last day a pair of spotted eagle rays.
Notes about visiting during COVID-19: the staff were wearing masks the entire time, guests were asked to use hand sanitizer when everting a new public space (the spa, restaurants, etc.), and guests were encouraged to wear masks in the public spaces unless they were eating or drinking. If we dined outdoors, no masks were necessary. We felt safe the entire time, and again, since everyone arriving in the Maldives needs to have had a recent negative PCR test, there aren’t too many other places on the planet that are as safe as this country.

Simply amazing

I don’t know where to start. My experience with this resort was remarkable. Everything was easy and fluid. For those who don’t know, Kagi is a new resort that opened in November 8, 2020. I will start with the reception at the airport. We arrived and there was someone holding a KAGI sign waiting for us. He took our luggage and got us two seaplane tickets then he directed me to the sim card store, because I needed one for our trip. A van took us to the lounge where we enjoyed a cold beverage waiting for the seaplane to be ready. Once ready, a bus took us to the seaplane. The seaplane took us to LUX* North Male Atoll Resort. After which we took a 5 minutes speedboat to Kagi resort. The reception was amazing. The hotel manager with a few of her staff were waiting for us. She assigned an island host to us who took us for a quick tour around the island.

The design of this resort is amazing, specially the spa and the pool area. The resort has 3 types of villas all with their private pools; a Lagoon villa which is an overwater villa with a view on the lagoon and island, an Ocean villa which is an overwater villa with an ocean and sunset view, a beach villa which is normal villa on the beach. We took the Ocean villa which was exactly like we wanted.

The food was good. The menu items are limited, however, the restaurant manager took care of us and made for us a few dishes outside the menu. The staff are always friendly and smiling. They always took care of our needs. In terms of safety, staff members wore their mask at all times and there are disinfectant gel dispensers in their restaurants and bar area.

One thing to note is that there was no night entertainment at the time of our visit (maybe because not many guests). They mentioned that there will be a DJ coming in December.
